Description

Sterling silver dogfish brooch or pendant (part a). Full repousse dogfish face, with rolled edges all around the inside; deeply sculpted, with engraved gill slits on forehead and cheeks. The pendant has an enclosed hook on the back for the chain, as well as a pin for wearing as a brooch.The inscription reads: "Reid 74". Part b is a silver link chain 61.3 cm in length, when extended. Narrative

Dr. Sydney Friedman and his wife Dr. Constance Friedman were acquainted for many years with Haida artist, Bill Reid, whom they commissioned to make gold and silver jewellery, between the early 1950s and 1974.
