Description

Small model of an oil lamp. The piece is carved out of stone, roughly triangular in its top view. The lamp is convex like a bowl, with a sharp crease on the interior bottom running through the centre. The rim is thin on the long sides and wide at the two corners. The exterior bottom is rounded with a small flat area that allows the lamp to stand upright.

Narrative

Percy F. Broughton is thought to have collected this artifact while he served as a missionary with the Church Missionary Society, in Lake Harbour on Baffin Island, from 1911-1912.
