Gloves Item Number: 2922/11 a-b from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Pair of beaded hide gloves, or gauntlets, with a fringe at the cuffs. The beaded pattern on each cuff has pink, light-pink, and red flowers with green leaves. On the top portion of each palm are three lines of beads of interchanging colours with orange. Each glove is marked D.N.S. in marker on the underside of the cuff and has a plastic tag adhered to the inside that reads “Stanley.” Both gloves are lined with a floral cotton fabric.

Narrative

The style of the gloves suggests they originated from a more northern, interior community.
