Description

Birch bark basket with wide oval top and rectangular base. Pieces are sewn together and around the top with split bark. Sewn in regular design around top on two sides, with open pattern around other two sides. The birch bark is in one piece from front to back and the sides are sewn together with a folded mitre-like base.

Narrative

The donor said she purchased the basket from a vendor at the side of the road, on the western section of the Yellowhead highway (possibly in the vicinity of Terrace), c. 1981.
