Tapa Cloth Item Number: 2947/7 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Large rectangular tapa cloth with geometric patterns in dark and light brown against a medium brown base. The designs are organized into a 3x2 grid with very wide columns. Each rectangle contains a diamond –shaped design at centre decorated with abstracted floral-like patterns in light brown. The diamonds in the top and bottom row are dark brown in colour; the designs in the middle row are half dark and half medium brown. Rows are separated from one another by a set of two thick, patterned lines: one linear, triangle-based design, and one chevron style pattern in dark and light brown. Along one edge of each of the grids’ rectangles is a column of light-brown and medium-brown stripes. At the centre of this line is a dark brown square.
