Artificial Limb Item Number: 2950/3 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Hand-made artificial limb. The knee height leg is constructed of wood, rubber and metal. The limb is made of a single piece of wood carved into a cylinder wider at top and narrowing toward the ankle. The cylinder is sliced in half from top down to ankle, allowing it to be adjusted in size. The slats are held in place by a wire at the ankle and a circle of metal at the top holding a piece of wire that is tightened to close the slats. A fabric handle, tan in colour with a green edge, is connected to the encircling metal. The foot is made of rubber and attached to the leg by nails and has a wooden toe-piece.
