Description
Rectangular textile, dyed black, with a faint horizontal line visible down the centre in red and green. The centre of the piece is decorated with embroidery and applique in a light tan colour. The applique is in a large, repeating H-style motif with the embroidery applied inside and around the applique in lines and loose V-shapes. The stitching is visible on the back of the fabric.
History Of Use
Possibly for a man's tunic (cushma), or a woman's skirt (chitonti).
Specific Techniques
Embroidered kené (all over design); made by women.
