Three Faces of the Dragonfly Item Number: 2975/1 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Woven three-sgil hat, with a painted dragonfly design. The hat is conical in shape, with slightly concave sides that flare to the brim. Stylized line paintings of dragon flies decorate the body of the hat, in black and bright red-orange. At the top of the hat are three stacked basketry rings (sgil), unpainted. A headband is woven into the interior of the hat. Davidson's initials and date are painted inside.

Narrative

Commissioned in 2010 by the donor, as a hat for her to wear. The hat was woven to size by Rorick. The donor then asked Davidson to paint the hat with a dragonfly theme.
