Description
Woman's necklace composed of 15 strands of green, round, glass beads with a small repeating pattern of red, round, glass beads. All strands are knotted together at each end, and the ends are in turn knotted together to close the necklace.
History Of Use
This style of necklace is worn by Kalash'a women as part of their complement of neck jewellery. The beads and colour scheme used in this piece are representative of the style used by Kalash'a women in the late 1980s to the early 1990s.
Narrative
This necklace is made with Czech trade beads, and was assembled under the tutelage of Waslim Goule of Balanguru village, Rumbur Valley. Each separate strand of beads is called a "lesh".
