Description

Goat horn container. Hollow, curved section of yellow-brown horn with a cork stopper at the pointed end and a cork plug (part b) in the large end. A narrow leather band is attached at the rim with metal studs. There's a fine incised decoration of hearts and flowers on the surface, as well as the inscription “CABECO DE VIDE / 1950”.

Shepherd's horn for olives. Shepherds in the province decorated and carved horns (also see 2956/254-258) to make containers for food and wine.
