Comb Item Number: 2878/35 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Rectangular double-sided wooden comb with central handle and burgundy, green and blue yarn wrapping. The tines of the comb are set perpendicularly through splits in two central rounded pieces of wood. Between the two sets of the tines there is coloured yarn wrapped between each tine and around the wooden supports to secure the tines in place. The pattern of the yarn is a combination of red, green, and blue stripes. Around the top of the comb, above the teeth, there are two orange tassels, one on each of the two main support pieces. There is a small red thread holding together the orange threads. There is also red thread tied below the orange tassels and also below the lower portion of the teeth. At the other end of the support there is green thread tied around each of the wooden pieces. Hanging from the blue fibre is a brown thread which attached a blue and red tassel to the comb.
