Description

Red cedar bark woven in four strands to form a four-sided chain-like ring. The object consists of two such rings sewn together. Bundles of light cedar bark stripes are attached to the ring in four places with thin pieces of hide.

History Of Use

Worn by Hamats!a who no longer dances. Also in Tlha'sala (C. George, 1966). Used by those who look after Ts!eqa (T. Johnson, 1966). Neck ring of shaman: paxala (D. Hawkins, 1966).
