Whistle Item Number: 2955/4 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Ceramic whistle in shape of a baby in a yellow dress on a red throne-like high chair. Incised design on green base. A pink flower with two gold cones is at the top of the chair back.
Since the 19th century, pottery toys from Barcelos have become ubiquitous throughout Portugal. Today they are more elaborate than the whistles and figures first written about by travellers more than a century ago.
