Description

Dark brown, wooden dish. Body of dish is in the shape of a half cylinder with a rounded base and a rectangular top with flat edges. The bowl is rectangular with sloping side walls. The exterior sides and bottom of dish are incised with an intricate decoration. The bottom of the dish is uneven and pointed on short ends. There are two knob-like handles at each end, carved as bovine heads on the underside.

History Of Use

Possibly used for serving rice.

Purchased by the donor in an antique store in the Torajan highlands in 2002.
