Description
Carved wooden mask with long stretched face and ears, protruding lower lip and jowls. Incised lines for hair and mustache. There's a hole on each side and two on top. Twine attached at back.
History Of Use
Carnival mask. The mask makers of Lazarim have their own unique individual styles and distinctive repertoire of character types; José António da Silva Costa specializes in caricatures of public personalities.
Iconographic Meaning
Mask represents Luis Felipe Vieira, president of FC Sport Lisboa e Benefica (Portuguese football club), a rival of the chairman of FC Porto (also, see mask 2956/236).
