Description

Lantern slide inscribed "Water Mill". Rectangular wooden slide holds a round glass plate at centre, surrounded on one side by a brass ring. A deep grove has been cut horizontally into the wood on the back of the slide, with a small metal clamp opposite. The plate shows a coloured image printed on glass of river with small rapids. A man stands on the bank fishing. Behind him and to either side of the river are bushes, and tall buildings with white or yellow walls and red roofs. A dark sky with clouds and a full moon can be seen at top centre. Stamped in wood: "W.E. & F. Newton / Opticians & Globe Makers to the Queen...London"
