Lantern Slide Item Number: 3000/60 a-b from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Single slipper lantern slide. A long, rectangular wooden frame holds two glass plates side by side, one stationary and the other moveable (part b). The stationary plate has a circular image at centre showing a vibrantly coloured, printed scene of a pink and blue sky with white clouds behind a brown mountain that edges a blue green sea with gentle waves. A small town sits at the base of the mountain. Part b is a similarly sized moveable pane of glass printed at centre with three multi-masted black boats. When the pane is moved back and forth, the boats appear to travel across the water. Inscription: "Bay of Hatales". Stamped in wood: "Newton / 5 Fleet St / Temple. Bar / London".
