Description

Square lantern slide made of two pieces of glass, one with the image painted on it, the other clear, held together by a ‘frame’ of black paper tape. The colour, circular image shows an interior scene in which a man in a blue robe with a red belt kneels in a cellar, filling a sack with potatoes by candle light. Two hams hang from the ceiling. This is the sixth slide in a series of nine. Label: "W.C. Hughes / Optician...London, N" and part of a paper label in one corner with a large green number "6".

From the collection of the missionary Thomas Crosby, who worked in various places on the Northwest Coast of B.C. from 1863 to 1907.
