Description

Photographic lantern slide made of two pieces of glass, one with the photo printed on it, the other clear, held together by a ‘frame’ of black paper tape. The black and white photo shows the interior of the US Chemical Department, main building, a room full of showcases and displays, and a variegated tin ceiling. A dark blue and gold border surrounds the image. Inscriptions read: "Centennial Photographic Co. / Philadelphia / International Exhibition. / Registered 1878...U.S. Chemical Department- Main Buil’g..."
