Description

Model totem pole. From bottom to top, the following figures that appear on the pole are: a bear, a killer whale, and a naked human sitting behind and holding the dorsal fin of the whale. Colours are red, green, black, white. Figures are secured with nails to a square shaped base.

Narrative

Stylistically the pole has been attributed to Haida artist Robert Ridley (1855-1934), with an estimated creation date of c. 1915-1920.
