Description

Decorative bolero style wedding jacket. The jacket is ivory in colour with a large cream coloured bow across the front. The jacket has scalloped edges, a large, overlaying collar which tapers down to a u-shape in the back, and flared, elbow-length sleeves. The jacket fastens with four metal snaps and a metal hook. Its interior is lined with synthetic mesh while the exterior is made up of elaborate synthetic lace and floral designs decorated with plastic sequences, translucent and black plastic beads and groupings of plastic pearls at the centre of each lace and sequin flower.

Narrative

The wedding dress (3048/25-27) was designed by Filipino couturier Arturo Cruz, in a contemporary version of the Maria Clara style. Julia Mercado Gonzalez was married in this ensemble to Dr. Miguel P. Tecson at St. Augustine church in Vancouver, December 1962. The set includes her gloves, shoes, cord, pillow and bouquet holder (3048/28-32).
