Figure Item Number: 3065/13 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Figure is carved from a piece of jade coloured in mottled orange, grey and light brown. The shape is a long rectangle, slightly rounded on bottom, slightly pointed at top, with bevelled edges. Lines are carved into the piece to mimic the body of a cicada: on one side, a set is engraved horizontally at top and V-shapes at bottom. On opposite is a central line running vertically and splitting at top, with horizontal grooves at bottom. A hole is carved in the base to allow object to be threaded on a string.

Narrative
