Floor Tile Item Number: 3076/17 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Two clay floor tiles mounted on a wooden plinth. One tile is a wide, low, hexagon, light yellow in colour. Its surface is relatively smooth, with gouges along some of the edges. A white inclusion in the clay sits at centre. The other tile is octagonal in shape, thicker than the other, and light orange in colour. Its surface is smooth with a very slight shine.

Narrative

An inscription on the bottom of the mount states that the yellow hexagonal tile is from the “agora at Salamis”, and that the orange octagonal tile is from the “basilica at Soli”.
