Description

Head neck jar with a side loop handle, flat base. Head in relief, incised ears and prominent eyes, nose and lips. Arms in relief and in ā€œLā€ position. Terracotta with traces of red-brown, black and gray geometric designs: decor on two light orange slip bands. Molded manufacture. Not restored.

Iconographic Meaning

Sillustani is a pre-Incan, Colla (or Qulla) burial ground on the shores of Lake Umayo, near Puno.
