Description

Stirrup spout prisoner effigy bottle with flat base and burnished surface. Terracotta with red brown slip, cream and traces of fugitive black on head design. Seated nude male figure with rope around his neck. Face has elongated eyes, prominent nose, incised mouth, protuberant ears and is wearing a headdress. Unbroken.

Iconographic Meaning

The figure on the bottle is also represented as a warrior, ritual functionary (diviner) and in portrait heads, indicating his rise from captive to elite status.
