Description

Large, heavy jar. Wide open mouth narrows at neck, then flares in middle before tapering to small flat circular base. Black patterns painted over yellow background, forming rounded squares and triangles. Darts with leaf shaped ovals run around the neck of pot. Base and inside of pot are red clay. Unglazed.

History Of Use

Normally used to carry water by women on their heads, however this jar was likely made for sale as it is heavier.
