Basket Item Number: 3116/5 a-c from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Double basket with lids on both sides (parts b-c). Woven basket is made of two nearly identical round bodies on pedestals. Necks narrow toward the rim, the round flat mouths hold lids. The two halves are attached by weaving, at the bodies' widest part. Basket and lids are decorated with repeating patterns of small crosses made from alternating black and red imbricated bark with a yellow grass centre.

Narrative

A small note with the accompanying papers said the 'double basket' was made by a woman in Lytton, then deceased.
