Byzantine coin of Justinian I, 527-565. Obverse: bust of Justinian I, facing right, with diadem and cloak; to left, inscription says 'IV...T'; to right, it is illegible. Reverse: large 'I'; to left, 'ANNO' in a vertical position; to right, 'XXϚI' in a vertical position; above, cross; exergue is illegible.

Narrative

Due to the illegible mint mark in the exergue, it is unclear where this coin comes from. Due to the style of the cloak on the obverse, it is unlikely to be from Constantinople. Collector's envelope suggests Antioch; Nicomedia is another possibility.
