Basket Item Number: 91.95.32 from the Portland Art Museum

Description

Large twined baskets such as this one were traditionally used by the Pomo for cooking or storage. As on most Pomo baskets of this type, the geometric designs are contained within horizontal bands, or registers. Many of the conventional designs on Pomo baskets have been given names; the design in the widest register of this basket is referred to as "arrowheads with quail plumes."
