Byzantine coin of Tiberius II, 578-582. Obverse: bust of Tiberius II, facing right, with diadem; to left, inscription composed of five letters, too fragmentary to decipher for certain; to right, 'PPAV'. Reverse: large ‘Ϥ’.

Narrative
For the coin inscription, the Dumbarton Oaks catalogue suggests a backwards Greek sigma, then ‘MTib’; however, it appears the first letter may be a Greek koppa, ‘Ϟ’?
