Byzantine coin of Tiberius II, 578-582. Obverse: bust of Tiberius II, facing front, in consular robes and crown with cross; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he holds an eagle-tipped sceptre with a cross above it; to left, inscription says ‘OMTI’; to right, ‘PTIV’. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘ANNO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘ϚII’; above, cross; in exergue, ‘[T]HEϤP’, with a diagonal line after the ‘P’.
