Description

Byzantine coin of Maurice Tiberius, 582-602. Obverse: bust of Maurice Tiberius, facing front, in consular robes and crown with trefoil ornament; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he holds an eagle-tipped sceptre; to left, inscription is illegible; to right, it says ‘PP’. Reverse: large ‘XX’ with a pellet in between them; to left, ‘ANN[O]’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘Ϥ’; above, cross; in exergue, ‘P’ with a diagonal line extending from the bottom.
