Description

Byzantine coin of Maurice Tiberius, 582-602. Obverse: bust of Maurice Tiberius, facing front, in consular robes and crown with trefoil ornament; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he holds an eagle-tipped sceptre; inscriptions are blundered; to left, it says ‘ΠINOC’; to right, it is illegible. Reverse: large ‘X’; to left, ‘ANNO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘III’; above, cross; in exergue, ‘P’ with a diagonal line extending from its bottom.
