Description

Byzantine coin of Heraclius, 610-641. Obverse: two rulers standing and facing front; Heraclius is on the left; Heraclius Constantine, his son, is on the right; each wears a crown with a cross and holds a globus cruciger in their right hand; between their heads, there is another globus cruciger; above, ‘CL’; to right, upside down ‘NNO’; beneath, ‘XX’. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘ANNO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘III’ in a vertical position; above, cross; beneath, ‘B’; in exergue, ‘NIKO’. This coin has been overstruck on a coin from a previous emperor, leading to confusion on the obverse.
