Description

Byzantine coin of Heraclius, 610-641. Obverse: two rulers standing and facing front; Heraclius is on the left; Heraclius Constantine, his son, is on the right; Heraclius holds a globus cruciger in his right hand; to left, it says ‘NEP’; to right, it says ‘NIC’; beneath, it says ‘DNFOCA’, which is upside down. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘ANNO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘IIII’ in a vertical position; above, ‘P’ within a cross; beneath, ‘Δ’; in exergue, there is a sideways ‘ANNO’. Coin has been overstruck, resulting in the inscriptions that belong to a previous coin on the obverse, and the extra ‘ANNO’ in the exergue on the reverse.
