Description

Byzantine coin of Heraclius, 610-641. Obverse: two rulers standing and facing front; Heraclius is on the left; Heraclius Constantine, his son, is on the right; each wears a crown with a cross and holds a globus cruciger in their right hand; between their heads, there is a cross; to left, inscriptions are illegible. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘AN[NO]’ in a vertical position; to far left, ‘FOCA’; to right, ‘III’ in a vertical position; above, cross; beneath, ‘A’; in exergue, there are multiple illegible inscriptions. This coin has been overstruck, perhaps several times, causing confusion on both sides.
