Obverse: bust of Leo III, facing front; he wears a chlamys; to left, he holds a globus cruciger; to right, he holds an akakia, a silk roll containing dust that symbolizes mortality. Reverse: large ‘M’; to right, ‘XX’ in a vertical position; above, bust of Constantine V, resting on a horizontal line; to left, Constantine V holds a globus cruciger.
