Description

Woman's red skirt. Garment is long and full, heavily pleated at top, with a wide waistband from which extend two long ties that are wrapped around the torso and fastened at front. Sewn to the waistband are two cotton shoulder straps. The exterior fabric of the skirt is a dark, cranberry-red satin, with imprinted floral emblems scattered horizontally. The interior is fully lined in red tulle.

Narrative

Donated by the Korean consul, to represent a woman's complete traditional costume: under garments, skirt, jacket, socks, shoes and norigae ornament (3171/4-10). A man's traditional outerwear costume was also part of the donation: pants, shirt and vest (3171/1-3).
