Description
Byzantine coin from the 12th to 13th centuries CE. Obverse: bust of Christ, facing front; he wears a nimbus cruciger, which is a cross within a halo; to left, inscription says ‘IC’; to right, ‘X[C]’; there is a second inscription to the right, which says ‘HE’. Reverse: two figures, standing and facing front; each holds a labarum, which is a military standard. The first inscription on the obverse in translation says ‘Jesus Christ’. Coin is concave.
