Byzantine coin from the Latin Rulers of Constantinople Period, 1204-1261. Obverse: illegible, but most likely a bust of Christ. Reverse: the Archangel Michael, standing and facing front; he has a halo and wings; to right, it says ‘X’. Coin is concave.

History Of Use

Narrative

The Latin Rulers of Constantinople captured the city after the Fourth Crusade in 1204. They were driven out by the Byzantine Greeks in 1261.
