Byzantine coin from the first half of the 13th century. Obverse: illegible. Reverse: a figure, standing and facing front (most likely an emperor, possibly on a throne). Coin is concave.

History Of Use

“Billon Trachy” (denomination); Sear# 2021 or 2023 ? Coin is similar to ‘Latin Imitation’ coins, but collector envelope says ‘Bulgarian Imitation’ coin.

Narrative

The Latin Rulers of Constantinople, who minted the ‘Latin Imitation’ coins, captured the city after the Fourth Crusade in 1204. They were driven out by the Byzantine Greeks in 1261.
