« A pair of boy's skis is crudely made from two thin pieces of birchwood which turn up slightly at the front. The bindings are narrow strips of tanned caribou skin (fig. 33). Skis, of course, were not used aboriginally by the Montagnais or any other North American Indian group and these appear to have been made in imitation of those worn by Euro-Canadians in the area. »

« Une paire de skis pour garçons est grossièrement faite à partir de deux fines pièces de bouleau, lesquelles sont tournées légèrement vers le haut à l’avant. Les fixations sont des bandes étroites de peau de caribou tannée (fig. 33). Évidemment, les skis n’étaient pas utilisés à l’origine par les Montagnais ou d’autres groupes Indiens d’Amérique du Nord, et ils semblent avoir été faits en imitant ceux portés par les Eurocanadiens de cette région. »
