« A pair of short leggings from the Natasquan band is made of white duffel with strips of red and green wool felt sewn at the seam which runs down the side of the leg. There is a strap of duffel to go around the foot and a triangular piece of the same material is sewn so as to extend over the instep. The upper end of these leggings is edged with a strip of plaid cotton cloth. Just below the edge is a decorative band of blue cotton cloth with geometric designs in purple and black. The lower edge is decorated with feather stitched red yarn (fig. 25a). According to Speck's notes, this type of legging was adapted by eastern bands of Montagnais as a result of contact with Eskimos. »

« Une paire de courtes jambières provenant de la bande Natashquan est faite en tissu de laine blanche avec des bandes de feutre de laine rouge et verte cousues sur la couture courant le long de la jambe. Une bande de tissu de laine s’enroule autour du pied et un morceau triangulaire du même tissu s’étend sur le cou-de-pied. L’extrémité haute des jambières est bordée de bandes de tissu de coton à motifs écossais. Directement après le bord se trouve une bande décorative de tissu de coton bleu décoré de motifs géométriques mauves et noirs. Le bord inférieur est décoré avec des points de plume en fil de laine rouge. Selon les notes de Speck, ce type de jambières a été adapté par les bandes montagnaises de l’Est après contact avec des Esquimaux. »
