Bracelet Item Number: 3260/51 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Cuff-style gold bracelet, with split cormorant design. Image covers the entire surface, except for a very thin border. Rounded ends. 'Haida Art' inscription.

Narrative

The bracelet design is said to be based on a Charles Edenshaw design. The piece was said to have been acquired by an elder in Metlakatla BC, directly from Reid, who later passed it on to her granddaughter. Her granddaughter sold it to a Haida woman, on Haida Gwaii. In 1994 the latter woman sold it, through the Miriam Shiell Gallery, to McConnell.
