Traditional Chinese style scroll painting. Long, vertical scroll with an ink painting on rice paper depicting a servant standing and holding an umbrella, and an elderly man riding a horse next to a river. In the background, there is a large weeping tree. Along the lower left edge is the artist name in two Chinese characters, and in English, and her small red seal. A large decorative wooden dowel is attached at bottom.

Narrative

The painting was made by a non-Chinese artist, in a traditional Chinese style. The artist studied with Chinese painter Master Ching Ku Chang for 18 years. Master Chang was the official calligrapher for Chiang Kai Shek, in Taiwan, before he immigrated to Canada.
