Description

Ikat textile with repeating pattern and centre seam down length. Matching pieces of brown weaving with yellow-brown, reddish-brown and black patterning - possibly depicting shrimp, birds, seahorses, lobsters and other creatures - and, divided by a large section of reddish brown across the centre with repeating designs. The two pieces are stitched together, creating a large textile with a centre seam down the length. The textile tapers in at each end, where it is sewn to a woven band, which then extends into dark brown fringe.

Specific Techniques

Woven on a back strap loom in two pieces, and then sewn together in the middle.
