Description

Dress made from loom square. Composed of two long rectangular panels of fabric, which are stitched together along the shoulders, leaving the sides open. Sleeves are attached on either side, with the fabric folded on the top edge, open on the bottom edge and finished at the cuff. Multi-coloured hand stitched embroidery on the chest, shoulder, across the top of the back and around the cuffs. The embroidery features repeated designs of birds, lobsters, winged and double-headed creatures, and small designs surrounding cut-outs in the fabric. There is a single embroidered bird on each arm, and a diamond near the bottom hem on the back. At the neck, the fabric is cut open, creating two collars, which are embroidered and sewn open with red thread. Two tags are attached to the garment with inventory numbers; one says "Traje Hombre Tatuado".
