Description

Shadow puppet of a deer. Made of paper which has been cut and painted to depict the deer with a large rack of antlers, grey coat with flower-like designs all over. It has a short fluffy tail, wisps of hair under its chin and black hooves. The deer is bleeding at the throat and stomach, with spots of blood dripping down its body and at its mouth. Operated by two rods. Joints at the head, and limbs. '26' is written on hind leg.

Narrative

This set of puppets (3322/1-30) was a gift to Muriel King in 1935. "Donated in memory of our mother, Muriel Wallace Burnaby King, from Catherine Christou & Robin King."
