Description

Shadow puppet of the old woman's son. Made of paper which has been cut and painted to depict the son in a purple shirt with white collar, white with red bottoms, and a black tie at the waist. He holds a black axe in his left hand. He has a heavily furrowed brow. His head is shaved, with exception to a short black ponytail at the crown of his head (queue hairstyle); however, the figure's hair has detached. His eyebrows are black, and he has red lips. Operated by three rods. Joints at the shoulders, elbows, hands, waist, and knees. '2' painted on the collar.

Narrative

This set of puppets (3322/1-30) was a gift to Muriel King in 1935. "Donated in memory of our mother, Muriel Wallace Burnaby King, from Catherine Christou & Robin King."
