Description

Long rectangular textile with alternating bands of supplementary weft designs and straight weaving. Multi-coloured fringe on left and right edges. Sides bordered with orange and dark green thread braided together. Top edge of textile has red stripe. Below is a dark red band with repeating pattern of yellow star-like shapes. Underneath that is another dark red band with repeating pattern of white star-like shapes. Bands below those alternate between the two coloured patterns. All bands trimmed with groupings of red, pink, white, light blue, indigo, dark green and yellow stripes along top and bottom edges. Bottom edge of textile has indigo stripe.

Made for Brian Zapf by the King's royal tailor when he was a teacher in Bhutan in the 1970s.
